Ready to Initiate Services?

Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) provides a  variety of services for children with special needs. To learn more about these services please review the legislation policy which provides an outline of all services available through the FSCD Act. Depending on the needs of your child, some services under the legislation may be more suitable than others. Your FSCD worker will be able to provide guidance on which service best suits your child's immediate needs.  

If after reading the legislation policy and procedure manual you believe Specialized Services best suits your family's needs, please contact your FSCD worker to see if your family would qualify for these services. Visit the FSCD website for information on how to contact the FSCD worker in your area.

Key Steps to Access Funding

Seek the support of your FSCD worker for Specialized Services. If determined eligible, FSCD personnel will provide you a list of Service Providers in Edmonton. Contact the Service Providers you would like to learn more about  and book a meeting to discuss their therapeutic approach and program elements. Kids First is happy to meet with you and your child to speak with you further about your family's needs and our program.

If you have decided to pursue services with Kids First after our face to face visit, please advise Kids First of your choice and also notify your FSCD worker. Your FSCD worker will then request an MDT date. Once we have been notified of your choice, Kids First will create a Proposed Service Plan based on the documentation we have received and the information obtained during our initial home visit.  The Service Plan will outline your child’s programming needs and will be presented at the MDT review. Kids First will work together with your FSCD worker to support you through the entire process and to answer all of your questions.
