  1. Once you have selected Kids First as your service provider, a Kids First Program Coordinator and Manager will meet with you in your home to determine your family's service needs. We will outline Kids First’s program and services. You will be asked to provide a copy of all assessments your child has received to date and to describe the most significant challenge for your family and child. You will also be asked to determine your priority areas for service. Many questions will be asked of you to ensure we create a Service Plan that meets your needs.
  2. Once you decide to select Kids First as your service provider you will need to advise your FSCD worker of your choice so they can request an MDT date. You will also need to advise Kids First of your decision so we may proceed with creating your Service Plan.
  3. Kids First will develop a proposed Service Plan for you and your family based on the outcomes of our in home meeting.
  4. Once the Service Plan has been created and the MDT date is set, you will be asked to review the plan and we will make any changes to the plan as required.
  5. Approximately 4 weeks prior to your MDT date, our Parent Liaison and your Program Coordinator will meet with you. This meeting is to prepare you for MDT and review any final administration prior to starting services. We will review the MDT process and answer any of your questions.
  6. After MDT, the panel will make recommendations to the Director of FSCD based on our proposed service plan.  We will incorporate their recommendations into the plan. As Kids First is a private agency and funded solely on fees for services, we create a budget based on the associated costs for implementing the plan and seek approval directly from FSCD on the budget created.
  7. Once the budget is approved and the final FSCD Agreement is received, the services begin.  Your Program Coordinator will be your main contact for all program related questions. As well, our Parent Liaison is available to answer any of your finance, contract or service related questions.

Costs

Kids First is a Private Organization who utilizes a team of Employees
and occasionally Private Practitioners who provide services in support
of an approved FSCD Service Plan. All clinical costs are covered within your FSCD contract, any further costs to the family would only be for community outings that the family chooses to participate in.

Kids First is a fee for service organization. Funding is only received once the billing sheets are signed; submitted  to Kids First; and processed by FSCD. Due to this reimbursement system it is imperative that  billing sheets are submitted on the 15th and 31st of every month.

Consent Forms - Our consent forms ensure mutual agreement regarding
programming and the sharing of information. Your review and agreement
of our consent forms are required prior to initiating services with
Kids First. We will review the consent forms during our intake or MDT
preparation meetings.

Document of Understanding (DOU) - Our DOU provides an outline of our policies and procedures. Your review and agreement of our DOU is required prior to starting services with Kids First.
